Visualizing Open Source Agriculture Data

Agriculture sector is by far the most important sector in India. Its contributes 17% of our GDP and employees more than half our countries workforce. The Government of India as part of the Open Government Data Platform (data.gov.in) has made tonnes of agriculture data available to public.

While I collected these datasets for various other projects in this domain, I thought it will be good to vizualise some of these to answer questions like where our food is coming from, which states have higher yields, which ones have most soil definciences and how do farmers respond to this by consumption of chemical fertilizers, insecticides or natural manures.

This analysis was part of larger project where we focussed on maximising farm income in the face of climate change and modelling market level pricing. Though we achieved limited success in being able to build a robust model for this, you can know more about it on the GitHub Repository.
